Financial empowerment
We believe everyone deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. Collaborating with local businesses and experts, Habitat offers classes and other educational resources to help local families attain affordable housing, be it with Habitat or another source.
Becoming a homeowner is a large endeavor for everyone involved. It takes a lot of hard work and determination, but we continually meet people like you who are up for the challenge.
We want to do everything we can to help prepare you for the day you receive your keys, and well beyond. One way we do that is through financial education.
To learn more about Habitat’s courses or to enroll, contact our Housing Coordinator at [email protected] or by calling 360-956-3456 ext 104.

Housing counseling
Housing counseling is an opportunity for you to get advice from an independent and certified professional who can:
Help you assess your financial situation.
- Evaluate your housing options.
- Make a plan to get you the help you might need.
Housing counselors provide advice on buying a home, renting, defaults, foreclosures, and credit issues. Their services are often provided at little or no cost to you.
If you are interested in buying a home or improving your living and financial situation, we strongly encourage you to contact a HUD-certified housing counseling agency. To find a housing counseling agency visit the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s website or call 1-855-411-CFPB (2372).
Homeownership courses
If you are interested in applying for a Habitat home, we encourage you to learn more about homeownership.
Habitat provides affordable homeownership and critical home repair opportunities for low-income households but is not an immediate source of housing help.
If you are in urgent need of housing, please contact the Housing Hotline at 1-844-628-7343 or call 2-1-1.
Habitat supports homeowners in their efforts to maintain safe, healthy homes and to contribute to the well-being and vitality of their neighborhoods.
Thankfully, Habitat is not alone in this work. Other agencies in Thurston County provide free home repairs:
- Rebuilding Together Thurston County
- Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties
Proceeds help fund the construction and repair of homes and neighborhood revitalization in Thurston County. Shopping at our stores is a win for you, a win for Habitat homeowners, and a win for our community.
