At South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity, we believe everyone deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. We offer free classes to help community members prepare for homeownership.

Classes are offered on a rotating basis. Visit our Eventbrite page to sign up.

All Things Credit Reports & Debt

This class includes a walk-through of traditional credit reports and which parts are the most important to lenders, including tips/tools on how you can fix anything that shouldn’t be there. In addition, we will discuss debt, and how it affects your debt-to-income ratio – and what is that anyway?

Financial Wellbeing

Our Financial Wellbeing course takes you through where you get your financial messaging from, what tools would work best for you, the next steps you can take to help with your finances, and an awareness project to take home.

Budgeting & Resources

Eager to keep your spending in check? Want to learn techniques to keep on track for future purchases? Don’t know where your money is going every month? Or do you feel you just can’t keep up on bills?

Join us as we discuss why you’d want a budget and what part it can play in your financial security. We’ll talk about a handful of budget processes, and simple debt management strategies, in addition to asking yourself questions when creating one that fits your life. We’ll send you home with helpful documents and handouts as well as a packet to help you track your own spending.

Habitat provides affordable homeownership and critical home repair opportunities for low-income households but is not an immediate source of housing help.

If you are in urgent need of housing, please contact the Housing Hotline at 1-844-628-7343 or call 2-1-1.

Habitat supports homeowners in their efforts to maintain safe, healthy homes and to contribute to the well-being and vitality of their neighborhoods.

Habitat’s Critical Home Repair program provides stability for homeowners by preserving older homes for safer, easier maintenance.

Thankfully, Habitat is not alone in this work. Other agencies in Thurston County provide free home repairs:

  • Rebuilding Together Thurston County
  • Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties
