Affordable homeownership

South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity creates affordable homeownership opportunities for qualified homebuyers.

Once accepted into the program, homebuyers prepare for homeownership through:

  • Education classes
  • Guidance meetings
  • Helping to build their homes

At the end of the program, homebuyers purchase their new, energy efficient homes with an affordable mortgage. From application to move-in takes about one year.

Program eligibility

To qualify:

  • Total household income is between 50% and 80% of the area median income (see chart below).
  • Live or work in Thurston County for at least twelve consecutive months at the date of the application.
  • Be able to qualify for a home mortgage subsidized to up to (33%) of your gross income.
  • Have not owned a home in the last three years.
  • Attend an information session to learn additional details (see sidebar).
