We need your help to make the vision of affordable housing a reality for hardworking families in Thurston County. You can help us by volunteering in the following ways – Help build or rehabilitate a home at a construction site, coordinate a group build day, volunteer in the one of our Stores, or assist with office needs and administrative duties.
Yes. Young or old, newcomers or experts, laborers or office workers, all faiths or no faith, we all join together to make affordable homes a reality in Thurston County for families in need. There are volunteer needs seven days a week in Store, all shifts available.
Yes. Please contact Tanya Mote at [email protected] for more information about how to schedule your group for an orientation and build day.
Due to insurance restrictions, volunteers must be at least 16 years of age (sorry, no exceptions). Younger volunteers may work in the Store if working with a parent/guardian. Contact our volunteer coordinator, at [email protected] or (360) 956-3456 X 16 to discuss.
Both individuals and youth groups are encouraged to lend a helping hand. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian allowing them to do volunteer work.
Yes, but on a limited and restricted basis. SPS Habitat community service volunteers serve at one of our Store locations.
To begin the volunteer process, contact our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected] to complete necessary application and to obtain approval.
All court-ordered community service volunteers will be required to submit a copy of their original court paperwork and ID along with an application that will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator, and be screened and approved BEFORE beginning their community service. Hours worked prior to approval will not be verified.
We build on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Construction hours are from 8:30am to 3:00pm. Midweek volunteers are needed at both the Store and construction sites.
No. All we ask is that you bring a willingness to learn and a desire to assist us in achieving our mission of building affordable housing. We have staff skilled in home construction and working with volunteers with various skill levels. Come and learn how to build a house!
It is recommended that you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty, as well as sturdy closed-toed shoes such as work boots or sneakers. You may bring your own sack lunch (however lunch is provided), a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat to protect you from the sun. Most people like to layer their clothing, as it may be cool in the morning and much warmer as the day goes on. Tools and safety supplies will be provided
