Work Groups
Thank you so much for your desire to volunteer as a group with South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity. We are happy to have group workdays on our construction site for corporate groups, church groups, work groups, community groups, etc. who are interested in helping build our community while strengthening their group relationships. Groups can help with almost all aspects of construction from framing the wall to landscaping and painting. No previous construction skills are needed and Habitat will provide the tools and training you need for success.
Many factors impact what stage the homes are at, including weather, sub-contractors, inspections, and the accomplishment of volunteers on earlier work days, so we ask your flexibility to help with whatever tasks are available on your work day.
Of course, what makes Habitat’s group building program special is that your efforts will extend beyond the boundaries of your organization. Your team will play a key role in helping a neighbor become a homeowner and break the cycle of poverty.
A company-sponsored work party is a great way to team-build while working with your hands, learning a new skill, and joining with your co-workers on a level playing field to help your community.
There are two kinds of work groups, Sponsored and Non-Sponsored.
Sponsored Work Group
Sponsored Work Groups combine time and treasure to make a high-impact contribution. This group can bring up to 15 people on any Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday. This group has priority on our schedule. Habitat depends on the financial support of volunteer groups to defray the costs of construction. Funds raised help to cover the cost of land acquisition and development, building permits, materials and site supervision. Your financial donation is vital to Habitat’s mission of making decent, affordable shelter for all people a reality. Groups are encouraged to contribute $1,500 per day. The donation is fully tax-deductible. South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity is an official 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
In return your group will receive:
- Lunch for your team on the jobsite
- An awesome workday building a home
- Photos of the day posted in our photo gallery
- A plaque for your workplace
- Recognition in our newsletter and website
- An invitation to the home dedication ceremony
- Your business name in the home dedication program
Non-Sponsored Work Groups
Work groups that do not make a donation can bring up to 5 people to volunteer on the site. These groups can come out to our construction sites on Wednesday and/or Saturday.
Lunch Provider
This is a great opportunity to help build a house with out raising a hammer! Individuals and/or groups are needed to provide lunch at a build site for 10-15 construction volunteers each Wednesday and Saturday.
For more information please contact the volunteer coordinator at cicely.tatum@spshabitat.org. or 360 956-3456 ext. 3 to book your group date.

Dress for work and weather, and be prepared to put in a most rewarding day.
