Tumwater High School Lends a Big Hand

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Today 250 Tumwater High School students poured off of four school buses and onto the work site. These students were here to help lay 8,000 square feet of sod around the homes. Once we set them loose these kids were sod laying pros. Some moving top soil, some rolling out the dirt, others laying sod and still more pulling weeds. It was quite a sight to see and all the sod was down (and it looked good) in less then two hours.

The students also brought some flowers that were left over from the schools horticulture department and planted them in front of the houses. These pl

ants will give great splashes of color when they bloom.

This group of kids was one of the most motivated, hardworking groups I have seen in a long time. Tumwater High School deserves a huge thank you for all the staff and students that came out today to make a difference in their community.  To check out pictures of today click here.

THANKS TUMWATER HIGH SCHOOL!

Taking some time off

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

As many of you have noticed the volunteer calendar is looking a little empty from about Thanksgiving until the start of the new year. This was not a mistake, but instead we are taking a little break. Saturday November 22nd will be the last day we are building until Saturday January 3rd 2009! This will give the houses time to dry out and the roofers time to get the roof on without worry of people below. We will be back to building full speed as soon as all these holidays are out of the way.
