Homeownership

Shepherd’s Grove Partner Families

All fifteen (15) homes at our Fairview Habitat Cottages have been completed and families are enjoying all the benefits of home ownership.  They’ve decorated to their tastes; some are going through the Holiday’s for the first time in their new home; but all have become established in this new community.  Even more importantly, they are now voting in their new neighborhood, regularly attending new schools, paying homeowner taxes and putting down roots for their families that will last for years to come.

We started working on our new Shepherd’s Grove Cottage Community this past summer. With the assistance of hundreds of volunteers and students from New Market School’s Construction Trades department, those homes are on schedule for completion and dedication  June 16, 2012.

Meet our five families who are working on, and will be living in, these wonderful homes.  They are a fantastic group of families and welcome additions to the community!

  • Louis Keehn and Aisheh Al Louzi, with daughter Victoria and son Daniel.
  • Mary Roberts, with son Dallas and daughter Cheyanne.
  • Aaron and Trisha Burns, with sons Aiden and Emry and daughter Makayla.
  • Jason and Amanda McLeod, with son Carter and daughter Molli.
  • Jennifer Collier and daughter Mia.

All Habitat families provide “sweat equity” hours in order to move into their own homes.  It’s quite a commitment because of our families busy lives, such as working and raising children.  Please join us in wishing them all good weather and good fortune as they continue working on their homes!
